Isn’t this grass supposed to be greener?

Dear LondonTown,
Sorry about the past week. I know you haven’t been feeling the love from me. I knew making a visit home to Phoenix would be filled with a mix of emotions, but I didn’t realize how much it would make me take you for granted once I was back.

I anticipated it being hard to leave AZ, especially after two weeks filled with seeing all of my favorite people. But hot damn, going to the airport that day took every ounce of will power I had. I seriously contemplated ways to NOT get on that plane that brought me back to Blighty.

So, I’ve been in a bit of a funk. Let’s call it a transitioning-back-to-living-in-London-and-oh-yeah-this-is-where-I’m-supposed-to-call-home-now-FUNK.

Don’t get me wrong, I know how LUCKY I am. How truly amazing it is to have this fab opportunity . . . and believe me, I honestly think about that EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. So I beg you, please don’t rear that ugly she’s-complaining-?!-does-she-have-any-idea-how-lucky-she-is-and-I’d-trade-spots-with-her-in-a-second head at me. Please, I know, trust me. I KNOW.

There’s something else I also know which rings just as true. It’s possible that until you’re in a similar situation, it’s hard to believe, but roll with me here . . . Sometimes the most amazing things you get to do in life are also the hardest, most challenging. They can shake you to your core and make you decide what you really want in a bigger sense. You think about who is most important and where you belong.  Perhaps all those reason are part of what makes the amazing things so amazing?  Oh, have we stumbled upon a revelation?

For me that means it’s a rollercoaster that dips between feeling alone and thousands of miles away from everyone I love, to highs of being able to live in one of the most amazing cities in the world and taking advantage of everything that comes along with it. It’s so hard and so fun . . . so very exhausting but equally as exciting. It’s difficult to articulate without sounding like I’m trying to get published on a quote magnet or wallet card that you find at the dollar store. You know the ones, they’re generally covered in rose clipart and your great aunt puts them in your birthday card. I believe you may also be familiar with the “meaning of your name” series? Ever so popular.

At any rate, for the next 5 months (ish) it’s just me and you, London! (Along with some enjoyable visitors). So, let’s do it up right, hey?
